Data Protection

This privacy policy explains how personal data is collected, processed, and stored when you visit mauricewillen.com. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG), effective 1 September 2023, and its implementing ordinance (DSV).

The responsible person for data processing on this website is Maurice Willen (see Site Operator above).

Data Collected

This website uses no analytics, no tracking and no advertising technology. There is no contact form, no newsletter, no login and no comment function. The only data that arises from visiting a page is what any web server records in order to deliver it:

• Server logs: IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, referrer, and timestamp. These are recorded by the hosting provider for security and operational purposes. They are not accessed or evaluated for this website, and they are not used for tracking or profiling.

Nothing else is collected when you visit a page. Fonts are served from this site's own domain, so visiting a page does not disclose your IP address to any font provider. No third-party scripts, pixels, embeds, maps or videos are loaded on the pages of this site, with one exception: the booking page at mauricewillen.com/cal embeds a calendar from zcal, described in the section on appointment booking below. If you write to the email address given above, see the section on email below.

Contact by Email

If you write to the address given above, your message, your email address and any details you choose to include are received in a mailbox operated by Google Workspace (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). The mailbox is administered by W89 GmbH, which provides it on my behalf and does not use its contents for any purposes of its own.

Your message is used solely to answer your enquiry and is kept for as long as the matter requires. There is no contact form; no data is collected unless you send an email.

Appointment Booking

The page at mauricewillen.com/cal embeds a booking calendar provided by zcal, Inc., 9800 Centre Pkwy, Houston, TX 77036, USA. It is the only third-party content on this site, it appears on that page alone, and it is loaded as soon as that page opens. A note directly below the calendar says so.

When the calendar loads, your IP address, browser and device information, your language preference and the page you accessed are transmitted to zcal. If you book an appointment, zcal additionally processes the details you enter in the booking window, in particular your name, your email address and the time slot you choose. The legal basis is the performance of pre-contractual measures and the legitimate interest in straightforward scheduling.

According to its own statement, zcal acts as a processor on behalf of the account holder, on the basis of zcal's Data Processing Addendum, which forms part of its terms of use. zcal in turn engages sub-processors, including a usage analytics service and a service for managing an affiliate programme; it publishes the current list at zcal.co/data-processors. That processing happens inside the calendar. No data from it reaches this site, and none of it is evaluated here. zcal states no fixed retention period for booking data. On the transfer to the United States, see the section on international data transfers below.

No other page of this site loads the calendar, and on those pages no connection to zcal exists. If you would rather not use it, writing to the email address given under Site Operator is enough to arrange a meeting.

Google Search Console

Search Console is used to review how this site appears in Google Search results, for example which queries lead to it and how often its pages are shown. Search Console is a reporting tool on Google's side: it places nothing in your browser, runs no code on this website and collects no data from your visit here.

Hosting & CDN

This site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, and delivered via Cloudflare's global network. Standard server logs, including IP address, user agent, and request timestamp, are recorded by Cloudflare for security and operational purposes. Their retention is determined by Cloudflare in accordance with its privacy policy. This site keeps no copy of these logs and does not access them.

The hosting contract is held by W89 GmbH, Zugerstrasse 6, 6330 Cham, Switzerland, which administers the account on my behalf. W89 GmbH processes data only on instruction and for no purposes of its own. The controller for data processing on this site remains Maurice Willen.

Cookies

This site itself sets no cookies at all and writes nothing to your browser's local storage or session storage. There is therefore no cookie banner and nothing for you to consent to or withdraw. Until August 2026, this site used Google Analytics 4 behind a consent banner. Both have been removed in full. To be distinguished from this: the booking calendar embedded on mauricewillen.com/cal may store its own data in your browser. That is decided by zcal, not here, and there is no access to it from this site.

International Data Transfers

Three service providers are involved in operating this site, and all three are based in the United States:

• Cloudflare, Inc.: Website hosting and content delivery. Cloudflare states that it is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Switzerland recognises the United States as providing an adequate level of data protection for organisations certified under that framework (Annex 1 no. 44 of the Swiss Data Protection Ordinance, DSV), so the transfer rests on that recognition.
• Google LLC: Email hosting for the contact address given above. Google states that it complies with the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, so the same recognition applies.
• zcal, Inc.: The booking calendar embedded on mauricewillen.com/cal. No certification of zcal under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework is known, so this transfer does not rest on that recognition. It rests instead on standard data protection clauses under Art. 16 para. 2 lit. d nDSG, which zcal expressly provides for in its Data Processing Addendum for data originating from Switzerland, the EEA and the United Kingdom. Authorities in the receiving country may under certain circumstances access data, and such access is beyond the control of this site.

No other transfer takes place. No analytics and no advertising are loaded on this site, and the calendar named above is the only third-party content.

Your Rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG, SR 235.1), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access (Art. 25 nDSG): You may ask whether personal data about you is being processed and, if so, receive the information you need in order to exercise your rights, including the purpose of the processing, the retention period, and the recipients.
• Right to rectification (Art. 32 para. 1 nDSG): You may request that inaccurate personal data be corrected, unless a statutory provision prohibits the change or the data is processed for archiving purposes in the public interest.
• Right to erasure or destruction (Art. 32 para. 2 lit. c nDSG): You may request that your personal data be deleted or destroyed. Swiss law frames this as a claim for the protection of personality that can ultimately be enforced in court, not as an unconditional right comparable to Art. 17 GDPR.
• Right to object (Art. 30 para. 2 lit. b nDSG): You may declare that you object to the processing of your data. Processing carried out against your express declaration constitutes an infringement of personality unless it is justified.

Swiss law does not provide a general right to data portability comparable to Art. 20 GDPR. The right to data disclosure or transfer under Art. 28 nDSG applies only to data you have actively provided and which is processed on the basis of your consent or in direct connection with a contract. No such processing takes place on this site, so that right does not arise here.

The scope of these rights in relation to this site is limited by what is processed here. This site holds no user accounts, no mailing list and no analytics profiles. The only records relating to your visit are the hosting provider's server logs described above.

Accessibility

This site aims to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. No claim of full conformance is made, and no formal third-party evaluation has been carried out.

The following have been tested and measured: keyboard operation with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element, a skip link to the main content, colour contrast calculated against WCAG thresholds, support for reduced motion, semantic landmarks and heading order, and usability at 200 percent zoom and at a viewport width of 320 pixels.

Known limitation: this site is available in English only.

Known limitation: without JavaScript, the email address on this site is not readable. The hosting provider inserts it in obfuscated form to protect it from automated harvesting and restores it only in the browser. If you have JavaScript switched off, you see the placeholder "[email protected]" instead of the address, and the link goes nowhere. This site publishes no postal address and no telephone number, so with JavaScript switched off there is no way to contact the operator from this page. Enabling JavaScript for this page makes the address readable. This is stated here rather than left unsaid.

Known limitation: the booking page at mauricewillen.com/cal embeds a calendar from a third-party provider. Its operability rests with that provider and can neither be tested nor guaranteed here, so the statements above do not extend to the content of that calendar. Without JavaScript the calendar is not loaded at all; a plain link to the calendar at the provider appears in its place. Writing an email is always sufficient to arrange a meeting.
